We provide life-changing help and guidance in two important areas: drug and alcohol treatment and community corrections programs.
Drug and alcohol treatment
Residential treatment for men and women
The Bethel Port Rehabilitation Program helps men and women dealing with substance use disorder start and then make progress on a healthy path to sobriety. The Bethel building is a halfway house home, a chemical-free environment offering two distinct programs based on clients’ needs. Our Short-Term Program includes vocational planning and efforts to secure employment. Our Extended-Care Program is designed for individuals needing more structured treatment, with an emphasis on relapse prevention. Both programs are managed by exceptional teams of counselors dedicated to their clients’ success. Through guidance, supervision and counseling, clients adjust to independent living in a supportive environment while also setting realistic goals and priorities for their futures. Community corrections
Men’s work release
Work release serves as a bridge between life in prison and life back in the community. Bethel clients in work release focus on transition, including finding and keeping jobs, reconnecting with family members and becoming productive members of the community once again. We help them learn and refine living skills such as shopping for groceries, using public transportation and managing personal finances–all while supported by Bethel staff. Work release is a chance for self improvement in a safe and caring environment that builds skills that clients can more easily sustain upon release. Details of our men’s program include:
Classified as a minimum-security adult detention center
Serves clients from local jails, the Minnesota Department of Corrections and the Federal Bureau of Prisons, including Huber Law referrals
Residential accommodations for up to 45 men
Referrals as needed to community services for substance use disorder
Women’s work release
Our women’s program provides services similar to those of the men’s program. The program also functions as the Female Offender Program for Arrowhead Regional Corrections and is the only program of its kind in our region. It provides support and instruction specifically designed for women, helping them learn necessary skills to develop a healthy, rewarding life while staying connected with their families and jobs. Our curriculum focuses on improving self-image, socialization training, anger management, parenting issues and sexual abuse treatment and education. Details of our women’s program include:
Classified as a minimum-security adult detention center
Serves clients from local jails, the Minnesota Department of Corrections and the Federal Bureau of Prisons, including Huber Law referrals
Residential accommodations for up to 15 women
Referrals as needed to community services for substance use disorder
Electronic monitoring
The Bethel Community Watch electronic monitoring program gives qualifying offenders the chance to continue working and maintaining their family lives while serving their sentences outside of prison. Using state-of-the-art electronic technology, the program ensures that offenders abide by terms of house arrest and electronic monitoring 24 hours a day. The program is flexible, setting curfews that range from home confinement to release for work, treatment, support groups, medical appointments or other court-approved activity. The offender wears an ankle bracelet that continuously tracks his or her location and emits an electronic signal tracked through telephone lines. If the offender strays beyond the court-ordered radius of the receiver, the signal stops, prompting a parole officer or other monitoring agent to investigate. A violation can result in more significant punishment.
